Series – Dark Lullabies

Main characters – Hunter, Annslee Richmond

Hunter is a member of Demon Among Us, a local band. He lost his twin sister to leukemia and has battled suicidal depression ever since. Only the band has kept him grounded.

Annslee was raised in a strict home with severe, abusive punishments for failure. She ran away rather than be forced to marry a man twenty years older than herself and has been in hiding ever since.

Over a year ago Hunter didn’t let his dislike for Annslee stop him from bedding her. When she left before he woke the next day that was fine by him.

A year later Annslee walks into the ER with her son only to be see Hunter. Her secret is out and Hunter won’t let her shut him out. It’s a rocky road, complicated and scary when her father locates her. However these two are not alone, they have Hunter’s band family as well as the Devil’s Riot MC supporting them.

This is a quick read with a likeable couple and lots of cameos from previous books by this author. It touches on loss and depression, abuse and finding family that isn’t necessarily blood.

The transitions are jumpy and I sometimes it felt like the story moved too fast, not letting a reader savor the good stuff.

I received a free copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review. If you like my reviews I hope you will follow my blog.
