Series – Psy-Changeling Trinity #4, Psy-Changeling #19

Main characters – Ethan Night, Selenka Durev

Listened to audio narrated by Angela Dawe. This book was a challenge of accents and a variety of characters but Dawe does a good job helping a listener distinguish the various characters except for one. For some reason Selenka’s voice came across very deep and masculine to me and I had to make a conscious effort to associate the sound to Selenka. The author described Selenka’s voice as husky, but the narration made her sound like a Russian man versus a woman. Other than that I enjoyed listening to Dawe.

Ethan Night is not the conventional Psy Arrow. He considers himself broken and a powder keg with a time limit. Abused as a child, punished with sensory depravation, it’s only his strength of character that prevented him from becoming Ming’s monster.

Selenka Durev is an alpha wolf and BlackEdge’s pack leader. Raised by her loving supportive grandparents.

During a symposium for empaths, a deadly security breach throws these two together. Selenka’s wolf recognizes her mate and snaps the mating bond in place. Mating at first sight is considered a myth in the changeling world but Selena’s wolf is determined to have her mate and not let go. Their connection quickly becomes soul deep and this fierce couple will not go down without a fight.

This story takes off running from the first few pages as these two deal with attacks on Selenka’s pack, on the Psynet and Ethan’s degradation, as well as sneak peeks into the mind of the Architect and their sinister plans. Bonus cameos of our friends from previous books.

I love this world and this latest addition was a great place to live for awhile. If you’ve never read this series start at the beginning because it’s worth reading every book. I’ve read them each several times.
