Listened to audio narrated by well Elizabeth Evans. I really enjoyed the narration I felt like I was right there in the story.

Aelin returns to end the King’s tirany, retrieve the missing wyrd key and avenge those she loved. Chaol is leading the resistance, Dorian has been enslaved by one of the demon princes and Manon must choose between following the King’s Duke or protecting her coven.

This book is jammed packed with action, intrigue and plots within plots. Aelin has embraced her role as Queen assassin and will do what is necessary to save those she loves and defeat the King. Manon steals some of Aelin’s spotlight again as she leads her thirteen, takes in a slave girl and has an epic encounter with Aelin.

Aelin, Aedion, Chaol and Rowan take quite a few turns before the big finale and even that will have you biting your fingers. There’s a huge ending but their story doesn’t end with this book and I can’t wait for the next one. Niggly odd things that felt off… Rowan and Aelin relationship change, in ‘Heir of Fire’ it seemed pretty clear that their relationship was platonic so that change and Aelin’s flirty, sexy behavior felt wrong and out of character in this book. Chaol’s relationship also came across as awkward. That being said I really like Rowan and thought the friend/partner dynamic was really good as it was, I also loved the changes in Manon and hope to see more of her story develop.
