Listened to audio narrated by Charlotte Kane. I really enjoyed listening to her narration but I would have liked the various characters to have more distinct sounds. There’s several story arcs and multiple characters that can make audio listening challenging.
Finn Malone is a Siberian Tiger shifter and one of the Black Malones. He and his family are determined to find out who killed their father.
Mads Galendotter is half honey badger, half hyena, who’s allergic to cat dander. Playing with a kitty cat is FUN!
It’s a little chaotic trying to follow this story via audio. We start in the past where Mads, Max, Emily aka Tock and Gong Zhao aka Nelle and Cass all met and how they all ended up trying out for the basketball team when they were kids. Then we move to the present where fun and chaos abound.
We jump from honey badger drama, Mads family madness, basketball team drama, and Finn’s family hunt to find who killed his father.
Mads and Finn’s story is a bit diluted with everything else going on but it’s still a fun read. There’s never a dull moment but to keep up with it all you may have to listen to it more than once or opt to read the book versus listening to the audiobook.
