Main characters – J.B. Walker, Charley Montgomery
J.B. Walker is a fighter and a member of Savage Hell MC, part of the Royal Bastards. He was raised by his grandmother after his drug addicted mother put him and his sister in danger. Bad decisions made when he was young and dumb are coming to bite him in the ass, putting those he cares about in danger.
Charley Montgomery is a CPA and the daughter of a fighting manager. She was raised by her father after her mother died in childbirth and grew up around her father’s fighters.
When a bookie demands cash or his sister to pay his debts, he puts his sister in a safe house not realizing his bookie will switch targets to his manager and his daughter. After learning Charley is in danger, he insists she also goes into hiding whether she likes it or not.
Even though they’ve known each other for years, forced togetherness flips a switch and these two can’t get enough of each other. I liked how Charley inspired J.B. and encouraged him.
This is a fairly quick MC read, ticking all the boxes, a little violence, hot sex, and rescuing the girl and the biker.
Easy to read Valentine novella, but there is a huge TSTL moment and we all know what happens after that, and a couple editing items that may have been addressed after I received this advanced copy.
**Side note**
Because pain medication and management is an important topic for me, I have to comment on a scene involving Charley and her pain medication. In the scene she doesn’t feel she needs to continue taking her strong pain medication and wants to switch to over-the-counter medication. She thinks she has to wait for her doctor visit to switch. Unless a doctor specifically says she has to clear it with him to switch, a doctor visit isn’t required. Continuing to take prescription pain medication when the pain is manageable by over-the-counter meds is what can lead to abuse.
