Shadow Fallen by Sherrilyn Kenyon, narrated by Fred Berman

Story 4 of 5 stars

Heat 5 of 5 stars

Series – Dark-Hunter, Dream-Hunter

Main characters – Valteri, Ariel

Listened to audio narrated well by Fed Berman.

Valteri was born with mismatched eyes, a sign of being demon spawn. Turned over to monks to be raised, he grew up being tormented as they tried to beat the devil out of him. All grown up he’s an undefeated Saxon warrior who is feared by all. He only wants to end his miserable existence but instead was saddled with a Norman castle he must defend for his brother.

Ariel is the daughter of the Archangel Michael. She’s a reaper who is cursed by a grieving old crone to live the life of a human until she falls in love and watches her love die in her arms.

Valteri’s men find Ariel with no memory of her real life. As he tries to help her recover her memory and reunite with her people, he finds himself fascinated by her. Wanting something he’s never had in his life, he’s suspicious of her and her brother who shows up shortly after she is found.

I liked Valteri and Ariel as well as the cameos from Thorne, Shadow and others within the Dark Hunter/Dream Hunter worlds. However, there are a few too many holes in this story to give it five stars.
